Basics of Western Keyboard

This course introduces a student to the Western style of playing the Keyboard. Initially, the student will have to understand the keys and play using key names and finger numbers. Later, the student is introduced to sight reading and notations on the Staff sheet , followed by rhythm and rests. This course is ideally suited for students who are absolute beginners.On completion of this course, the student will be able to read basic notations on the Staff and play the same on keyboard.

Assessment

Students are assessed on the following, for a total of 50 marks.

Keyboard Basics — 50 marks

• Theory Knowledge — 15 marks
• Staff Familiarity — 10 marks
• Keyboard Visualization — 15 marks
• Hand Position — 10 marks
